We can have your  shopping ready and waiting at your accommodation.  This can include practical items such as a new pre-paid mobile phone, a car seat, a Melways (street directory to Melbourne), or even your hired car. Accommodation Identify and make a reservation for short-term accommodation according to your criteria - we'd be particularly delighted to welcome you to Cal's Place, our on-site accommodation, www.calsplace.com.au, where we can assist you with many of your concerns. Use your supplied information to view, report on (including photographs) and apply for tenancies which meet your requirements (we will send you a form to provide personal details and references before you arrive to simplify the process), Assist with condition reports (identifying condition of rental property on issue of lease), taking photographs as required so that you will not be charged for damage not of your causing. Arrange a cleaning company if your rental property is not of satisfactory standard.  You need only vacate the property in the condition you take up the lease.  Direct you to our favourite property buyers who will advise you on the Australian property buying experience and offer services and advice from property search to surveys and negotiation and, finally, sealing the deal. Arrange the hire of furniture to your specifications while you await your container. Employment Provide an information pack of Recruitment Agencies in your field and direct you to recruitment services and sites Provide advice and resume enhancement, arranging for expert advice and training if required Education Help you understand the Victorian Education system, the ages for progression and the testing standards, advising you of term dates and other relevant information. Provide a list and arrange tours to educational establishments which meet your criteria (you may wish to do this before researching your accommodation) on any of the following facilities: Kindergartens and Day Care Private Primary Public Primary Private Secondary Public Secondary Church Schools University International Baccalaureate TAFE – Adult Education & Business Course We can also research social, sporting and other activities and clubs for your children or yourselves. Transport – Car Purchase and Rental Transporting a vehicle you own from the UK Buying a new car in Victoria Buying a second hand car in Victoria Hiring a car in Victoria Removals – Receipt of your Possessions Provide a delivery address for receipt of your container from the UK Arrange the removal of furnishings from your rental accommodation to permanent home Visit your pet and take them for a walk while preparing for their welcome to your new home. Communications Arrange for communication channels to suit you including Skype, MSN, phone cards at the current best rate and, if accommodated in one of our partner properties, you can be sure you’ll have an internet connection available. If you don’t have your own laptop with you, we'll arrange one for you to hire. Registration We can have the documents ready for you here or forwarded to you in the UK ready to register with many necessary agencies for the purposes of: opening bank accounts creating a Centrelink account registering for Medicare registering your passport for the Visa to be inserted changing to a Victorian driving licence – this does not require a test, points are not added to your licence until you have an Australian licence and you must get a new licence within 3 months of permanent residency registering for ambulance cover Shopping We can offer you guidance on a variety of stores including: DIY stores, Supermarkets, Furniture and White Goods Rentals, Furniture and White Goods Purchases, and Electronic Equipment We can negotiate on your behalf to reduce the costs of your purchases. We can forward web addresses of stockists as required, or other useful information such as bed sizes, so that you may assess whether it is worth your while to buy some products in the UK before you leave. Babysitting We use a service which identifies babysitters in your area.  They have references and are police checked.  We forward details for you to decide with whom you would feel happiest leaving your children. Recreation We can organise tickets for events, a synopsis of local events and even tell you where the nearest parks or sports grounds are.
